Mike Crawford – Candidate for Maricopa County Sheriff, Glendale Police Officer, Air Force Veteran

September 18, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm MST

FREE/Contributions-donations Welcomed!

My name is Mike Crawford and I am running to be the next Sheriff of Maricopa County. As a servant leader, I have been in the service of my community since I was young.

I served as a volunteer firefighter while I was in high school. When I graduated high school, I joined the United States Air Force. I served as a Crew Chief on KC135s. In 1991,  I successfully completed the Non-Commissioned Officer Preparatory Course and was promoted to a Sergeant. While in the service I was awarded the following awards,  decorations, ribbons and medals:

Air Force Outstanding Unit Award
Air Force Good Conduct Medal
Air Force Recognition Ribbon
National Defense Service Medal
Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon
Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon
NCO PME Graduate Ribbon
Air Force Training Ribbon

During my service, my evaluations reflected my commitment to my position and those who I served within the Air Force. I was recognized for my hard work, can-do attitude and always ready to take on additional responsibility. In August of 1992, I was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.
In August of 1992, I was sworn as a Deputy Sheriff at the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. I attended the New Mexico State Police Academy in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During my time at the Sheriff’s Office, I served in patrol, as a special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration Region II Narcotics Taskforce, and as an extradition fugitive deputy.

In September of 1997, I joined the Glendale Police Department as a Police Officer. I attended the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy. During my time at the Police Department, I have served in patrol, motors, vehicular crimes, and special operations. I have been trained and certified as a general instructor, field training officer, taught traffic law at the academy and served as a motor instructor.

I made the decision to run for Sheriff of Maricopa County because I believe the citizens deserve better.  As your Sheriff, I will fulfill my obligation to the oath that I will take to uphold the laws, the Constitutions of the United States of America and Arizona, and deliver law enforcement protective services in a fiscally responsible manner. I will work to unite the community and the sheriff’s office to make Maricopa County safe again through education, outreach, and youth involvement.

I am proudly married to my wife, Jamie. Together, we have three incredible children, six beautiful grandchildren and an adorable puppy. We proudly call Glendale, Arizona home. I was born and raised in Farmington, New Mexico. We love to travel to my hometown to visit my Mom and family.

We enjoy spending time with our family and friends. During the holidays, we open our home to the men and women in law enforcement and fire service so they can enjoy a home cooked meal. We have found ourselves traveling to the beach, Australia and of course to see our family. We were recently in Washington, D.C. to enjoy our great nation’s history and spend time with our closest friends during National Police Week. The opportunity to honor our fallen law enforcement officers and their families is something I will never forget. We have made many amazing friends in our travels.

My wife and I spend time working on our hot rods and can be found in the garage working on our latest projects.  We have enjoyed seeing the great state of Arizona behind the wheel of our hot rod or on the Harley. My wife has taken one of our hot rods in a few parades and she proudly shares that she has logged more miles driving the hot rod than I.

Between my work schedule and our family activities, we find time to be involved in our local community and are proud to support our law enforcement, fire service, dispatchers, and military. On my days off, I can be found on the golf course with my wife and friends or at a good restaurant enjoying a delicious meal. We are fans of Australian Rules Football especially the Hawthorne Hawks. You may find us at a hockey game or a good concert.

We are working to make Maricopa County safe again.
