JoAnn Sabbagh, Candidate for Az State Treasurer and LET’S GET EDUCATED in Process: initiatives / Propositions / Recalls – Let’s Talk Then Vote

August 15, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm MST

FREE/Contributions welcomed!

Hi All

Wednesday August 15, we will have a JoAnn Sabbagh, Candidate for Az State Treasurer speaking first before going into a discussion on Propositions/Initiatives, why NO to NPV and NO to Article V Convention.

JO ANN SABBAGH FOR ARIZONA STATE TREASURER
www.SabbaghForAz.com
Jo Ann Sabbagh is a life-time Republican.  She has been active with the Republican party while in Arizona serving as Campaign Committee Treasurer for more than 17 years for candidates ranging from the Arizona Legislature and Arizona Corporation Commission to the United States Congress.

While Jo Ann has been working in public accounting for more than 30 years, she started her own public accounting firm in February 2004.  She has earned the Federal License of Enrolled Agent issued by the Internal Revenue Service demonstrating her knowledge of income tax and accounting.

If elected, Jo Ann will be the first accountant to serve as Arizona’s State Treasurer.

Jo Ann has voluntarily participated in many community events and non-profit fundraisers and currently serves on several Board of Directors.  She participates in the annual TUSD (Tucson Unified School District) Love of Reading Program, a week long program designed to encourage K-12 students to read by inviting local celebrities and business owners to read to classrooms.  Since September 1997, she had been actively involved in serving as an active member of various tax and accounting professional organizations.  She has served on their Board of Directors and held officer positions.

Jo Ann’s experience in working with taxpayers and small business owners has led her to become an advocate while representing them before the City of Tucson, the Arizona Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service.  She comprehends complex tax law and understands how taxing authorities work. This point of view makes her standout from other candidates for the position of Arizona Treasurer.

PROPOSITIONS:

If you are a concerned Citizen and Voter you will want to be at this meeting to discuss the upcoming Propositions/Initiatives to understand them and know what they are BEFORE going to the polls or sending in your early ballott if you are on the early ballot list.

Early ballots have 6 proposed amendments on the back of the ballot. Please ensure that you fill them out.

Here is a breakdown of each and a opinion by Aaron Flannery running in 2020 for County Recorder who came within 200 votes of winning last election.

Proposition 411
Question: Shall Chapter III, Section 6 and Chapter XIII, Sections 1, 3 and 6 of the Charter of the City of Phoenix be amended as described to change the dates for regular city candidate elections from the fall of odd-numbered years to November of even-numbered years with any runoff election to be held on the next available permitted election date? –

VOTE YES. In off cycle elections, turnout is very low. The light rail tax was passed with just 21% turnout! (Prop 104 – 2015)

Proposition 412
POWER OF CITY COUNCIL TO REMOVE ELECTIVE OFFICE HOLDERS
Question: Shall Chapter XVII of the Charter of the City of Phoenix be amended as described to permit removal of a council member for a violation of the City of Phoenix Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy?

VOTE NO! – This takes power away from citizens.

Proposition 413
SOUTHWEST GAS FRANCHISE AGREEMENT
Question: Shall the Franchise Agreement proposed for Southwest Gas Corporation for a term of 25 years to begin on January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2043 be granted?
YES / NO???

I am unsure of this one, as I do not have Natural Gas at my house. However, SWG has an above average reputation in the valley.  Sorry, we can’t help with this one either.  Do not have natural gas in our home in Glendale.

Proposition 414
REFERRAL OF CHARTER AMENDMENTS
Question: Shall Chapter XXII, Section 3 of the Charter of the City of Phoenix be amended as described to eliminate the unanimous vote requirement of the City Council to refer charter amendments to the ballot by descriptive title?

VOTE NO – it should be hard to pass amendments since they can do damage and often favor special interests over citizens

Proposition 415
CITIZENS’ COMMISSION ON SALARIES FOR ELECTED CITY OFFICIALS
Question: Shall Chapter III, Section 12 of the Charter of the City of Phoenix be amended as described to change the term of the Citizens’ Commission on Salaries for Elected City Officials from odd to even years to align with even-year elections and change their appointment from every two years to every four years to align with mayoral elections?

VOTE YES This goes hand in hand with 411. This allows the 4 year terms in progress not to be shortened to three.

Proposition 416
RANDOM SAMPLE VERIFICATION FOR INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM
Question: Shall Chapters XV and XVI of the Charter of the City of Phoenix be amended as described to authorize verification of all initiative and referendum petitions by a random sample of 20 percent of all petition signatures?

VOTE YES – With all the news in recent fraudulant petition gathering , having a larger threshold will prevent cheating on signature gathering.

You’ll notice some of these did not make it to the ballot.

iliWe will again be discussing the NPV – National Popular Vote – why it is a very very bad idea.  We’ve discussed it before, just want to ensure we’re all on the same page in understanding WHY this is a very bad idea.  What is being reported as a good idea is a lie!

ARTICLE V convention – discussion – very controversial.  We ran a documentary from John Birch Society with Barbara Blewster and Robert Brown doing the documentary.  Very heated discussion going on across the States.  If you recall, we did ran the documentary Reign in Big Government with Article VI vs Article V.  Article V is a misnomer and it is highly misrepresented, abused, and misused.

I sent out Dave’s notes and will post it again if necessary as well as have copies available which breaks it all down for everyone.  An Article V Convention that political parties are attempting to shove down our throats is extremely dangerous.  It can completely dismantle our current US Constitution, taking away our Freedoms and Liberties.  I have a copy of the New States of America Constitution which basically obliterates our current US Constitution, takes away all our rights, Freedoms, and Liberties.  This is what the Liberal Socialist / Communist Left want to use to replace our Current US constitution.  There are those on the left that believe our current Constitution is hindering their Agenda and not allowing them to utilize their liberal socialist communist agenda.  Let’s discuss!

See ya Wednesday Aug 15 – bring your thinking caps, questions, and anything else you feel may be relevant to this discussion. Denny’s Restaurant Banquet Room 9030 N. Black Canyon Hwy, Access Rd; Dunlap Ave Exit I-17.  Doors open 6 pm; meeting starts 6:30

See ya then~
